Details: First flew 19th December 1965. Delivered to Royal Navy 8th February 1966.

Served with 845 Sqn by Sep 1973, 845 Sqn by Jul 1979, 847 Sqn May 1982.

On 13th May 1982 XT472 joined MV Atlantic Causeway to sail later that day for South Atlantic as one of 20 Wessex HU-5s of 847 Sqn. Provided airlift for stores and supplies for the Taskforce during the Falklands War.

On 10th September 1982 moved to Wroughton for storage, and 8th May 1984 to Lyneham for ground instructional use. Brief stays at Netheravon and as an instructional airframe at RAF Hullavington before arriving at the Helicopter Museum in 1987.
